Siren's Brew Coffee Co. is looking for a logo! This local business is just starting up and they want to create an eye-catching, memorable logo that can be used across all company merchandise and marketing materials. I started with the font because I already had an idea of where I wanted to go.
I settled on this font called "Voyager" and decided to go with the clean version instead of the "aged" setting. I thought it would be too busy if the font was rough. I chose this font because it seems very nautical to me and almost whimsical. There's something about it that reminds me of old sailor tattoos and oceanside saloons. I went with all caps for a bold impact and to give it a bit of masculinity to compliment the feminine mermaid symbol.
I loved the idea of using a mermaid to begin with, but it started getting interesting trying to combine that with a coffee aspect. I settled on this "coffee ring" swoosh shape and kept everything monochromatic for the most part. The ring also provides some much needed texture to an otherwise flat logo.
The goal was to make the logo as simple as possible so it can be resized without losing crucial detail. That's why I thought the mermaid silhouette would be enough for it to be recognizable, without it being too boring.
I haven't had a chance to expand the brand anymore, but there's a lot more I'd like to do with it. Anyways, I think it turned out pretty nice.
